Discussion Questions & New Format!
Hey everyone, I hope you’re all well and have enjoyed our August
Read-A-Long - Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel. We’ll be meeting up via
g-meet on Wednesday the 4th of September at 7PM GMT to discuss our August novel together - I can’t wait to hear all your thoughts!
After gathering some of your feedback I thought it might be a nice idea to try something a little different for this session. Below I’ve shared with you the kind of discussion questions that are likely to come up in our next meeting. This way it gives you a little more time to have a think about the books concepts in more detail and in relation to the questions.
Feel free to gather your favourite quotes and make some notes beforehand to share with us all. For those of you who are onto your next read, I hope this helps to refresh your memory to!
I want to stress that there’s absolutely no pressure at all to have answers for all these questions! Think of it more of a guideline to help me form our chats, keep them running in an inclusive way and to stop me from waffling on!
Feel free to just choose your favourite questions from the list - or the ones the resonate most with you to comment on. Please let me know in the comments channel on the night. If you’d like to speak on any of the topics/questions leave the question number/s in the chat area. If you have another question which isn’t related to the ones below that’s totally fine, just pop the question in the comments channel so that I can include it in the discussion. This way I can ensure everyone gets the opportunity to speak - if they want to.
This will be a trial to see if we prefer this format - and we’ll vote if its a yay or nay together. It’ll still be a casual conversation, but hopefully with more opportunities for people to share their thoughts comfortably - without being put on the spot.
